Insomnia

Acupuncture for insomnia

We Have All Heard Sleep is Essential!

Good Sleep - When you have it, you know not. When you have not, you still may not know. Poor sleep or more specifically the absence of sleep, is well known to lead to feelings of anxiety, heightened fear, an increase in worry, disrupt our immune function and may also make it difficult to manage weight.

The Science Behind Acupuncture

According to Science Daily, one in four develop insomnia each year. But what’s the difference between poor sleep and insomnia? Maybe not much, however chronicity and severity is certainly an important factor. A commonly accepted definition for acute insomnia may include: difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep for three nights per week for at least two consecutive weeks. For chronic - if it occurs at least three nights a week for more than three months. Regardless of how the term is used, people may suffer if they do not get the proper amount of high quality sleep. Let’s face it; sleep is important no matter how you slice it.

Ask yourself a couple of simple questions:

Do you feel refreshed in the morning?

Are you clear headed throughout the day?

Is a sleep aid required to get rest at night?

Do you have sufficient energy to get things done?

If you answered No to any of these questions, you may benefit from a better night’s sleep.

Acupuncture has been commonly used in the treatment of insomnia throughout the world for thousands of years. Check out the National Institutes of Health for clinical studies that have demonstrated the benefits of acupuncture for sleep disorders.
